Field Safety & Health Coordinator

The Field Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting, facilitating and engaging the principles of the corporate safety program. The Field Safety Coordinator supports the Field Operations staff by providing critical information and guidance regarding safe work procedures, work place safety regulations, corporate policies and adopted best practices. Field Safety Coordinators conduct job site observations, guide workers through complicated safe work practices, educate employees on safety regulations, policies and procedures, identify hazards, suggest methods of hazard mitigation, respond to emergency situations, investigate incidents, provide reports and communicate information critical to the prevention of accidents, injuries and near misses.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Conducts job site safety observations (60-85% in the field)
  • Implements compliance measures for safety standards, best practices, safe work procedures and safety policies
  • Provides guidance and education on safe work procedures, best practices, regulations, policies and use of safety equipment
  • Engages with critical stakeholders to ensure execution of the principles of the safety program
  • Communicates with site staff and management to ensure a full understanding of the expectations of the safety program.
  • Conducts and completes incident investigations
  • Develops and writes investigation reports
  • Completes site observation reports, investigation reports and near miss reports
  • Participates in safety meetings
  • Promotes a total safety culture
  • Supports corporate safety initiatives

Secondary Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops, facilitates and provides training programs as necessary
  • Responds to emergencies
  • Represents company at on-site regulatory inspections
  • Escorts visitors on job sites
  • Conducts new hire orientations
  • Attends relevant conferences, meetings, training etc. appropriate for the position
  • Responds to emergency call out, storm duty, and other applicable emergency response demands as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (preferably in Occupational Health and Safety or related)
  • 2-3 years of related experience
  • Valid drivers license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Any of the following certifications: OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR
  • Familiarity with construction job sites
  • Familiarity with electrical or gas utilities
  • Familiarity with OSHA and LEI regulations

Location: General Seattle -Tacoma – Portland, OR area. Home office: Sumner, WA but includes periodic overnight travel up to 30% of the time both locally and out of state.

Schedule: M-F; 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (lunch & breaks included)

Salary Range: $75K – $95K (annual) depending on experience; bonus may apply

Position Equipment: Vehicle, mobile phone, computer, gas card, other as necessary
