Seeking engineer to fill open role in our engineering department based near our Sumner headquarters building to support our Power Distribution Customers contracts. We are looking to fill a Project Engineer roles within our company. There are 4 main groups within the Potelco Engineer Department: Structural Analysis, Joint Facilities Notification, Cable Replacement and Maintenance, and Overloaded Transformer Elimination Program where you may use your skills. Here’s more about this role:

Responsibilities:

  • Provides electric utility engineering for operation and maintenance projects. This includes interpretation and development of distribution designs congruent with utility standards.
  • CAD analysis (PLSCADD preferred) on existing or new transmission structures in relation to scope of work. Using CAD to analyze structural integrity of new or existing structures. Using standards and best practices to maintain clearances from existing structures.
  • Calculates and drafts designs, which include an understanding of voltage regulation, electrical load calculations, system protection, and fuse coordination for distribution systems
  • Provides cost estimates and updates budget for new and existing projects
  • Manages the project life cycle using work order management systems
  • Provides assistance to utility engineering team by performing field visits to gather information, as required
  • Administrative functions and other tasks as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree (BS, BA) in Engineering, Construction Management or related field from accredited educational institution OR 4-6 years related experience and/or training in lieu of education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and information, journals, technical procedures and data.
  • Familiarity with PLSCADD or other CAD software
  • Ability to write business correspondence and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other managers, clients, customers, and local permitting agencies.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as those commonly found in business transactions.
  • Ability to create and explain financial models and forecasts.
  • Ability to apply basic algebra, geometry, and engineering principals.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
